ECEC celebrates the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development!

03/03/2026

On March 4, ECEC joins the worldwide celebrations of the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development!

Have a look at the ECEC videoEngineers@Work – we released on the occasion of the World Engineering Day 2026 and learn more about the work of Chartered Civil Engineers. Their work is all around us. In the roads we travel, in the bridges we cross, in the buildings where we live, work, receive medical care and learn, on the banks of rivers and seas where we walk, on the docks where we berth.

Engineers shape the space of our lives. They play a crucial role in ensuring quality, safety, sustainability, resilience, cost control and compliance with public-interest objectives. Their role goes far beyond the design and construction phase. They have expertise in building materials, their reuse or recycling after demolishing as well as in electronic, mechanical and many other technical fields.

The video is also available on the official World Engineering Day Youtube Channel.

Held on March 4 every year, the World Engineering Day (WED) is a crucial date in the engineering calendar. Initiated and overseen by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), which represents more than 100 national and international professional bodies, and of which ECEC is a member, WED was proclaimed by UNESCO at its 40th General Conference in 2019. Since then, it has not only brought the engineering community together, but also promoted a deeper understanding of the industry among politicians, decision makers, business, educators, and the general public, shedding light on the all-too often unsung heroes of modern progress.
