ECEC at the World Engineering Day in Paris

On 4 March 2025, UNESCO commemorated World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development at its headquarters in Paris under the theme: ‘Shaping our sustainable future through engineering’ took place.

This annual event highlights the relevance of engineering in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. During the day, discussions and presentations highlighted the fundamental role of engineering in key sectors such as energy, water, sustainable infrastructure and innovation. Experts emphasised the need to promote engineering education and to attract more young people, especially women, to the engineering profession in order to meet today’s global challenges.

ECEC was represented by Vice-President Juan Blanco and Klaus Thürriedl, Secretary General of ECEC.

The celebration also served as a platform to highlight how engineering contributes to mitigating climate change, improving energy efficiency and developing innovative technologies that drive a more sustainable future. The initiatives that align engineering with sustainability and social progress, reaffirming the engineering commitment to the training of professionals capable of facing the global challenges.
