At the end of 2016 the European Commission has published Call for Tenders for a Study on the impact of liberalization of access to certain professions on the quality of services provided. The tender was awarded to a research consortium composed of the University of London, Queen Mary, London, UK (Maria Koumenta), Collegio Carlo Alberto, Moncalieri TO, Italy (Mario Pagliero) and Universitaet Hohenheim, Dep of Economics, Stuttgart, Germany ( Dr. David Rostam-Afschar)
At the end of January 2019 “The Effects of Regulation on Service Quality” was published on the European Commission’s website and raised a lot of criticism. One of the focus critic points is that the validity of data is questionable as for many cases the chosen indicators are inadequate for answering the scientific questioning.
The ECEC has sent a letter to the European Commission on 24 April 2019 to explain this criticism with the example of the case study on German architects and engineers.
