The Austrian Federal Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants is organising the second edition of the anotHERVIEWture award after its launch in 2022. It is an award that is exclusive to women with the aim of highlighting female contributions to building culture. It brings excellent work done by female chartered engineers to a broader public and creates role models for engineering students.
There are four categories open for submissions with three of them awarding achievements in architecture. Category III – National/International Female Engineering Achievement of the Year – honours advanced engineered technological accomplishments achieved by an Austrian or a national of any other country working in the field of civil engineering. The category awards projects incorporating functionality, economy, innovation, ecology and aesthetics in every aspect of the building process.
The winner of the female engineering achievement 2022 was Carla Lo for her project “Die schwimmenden Gärten”, a recreational space by the Danube Canal in Vienna. The all-female jury chose her for creating a relaxed public space on top of a watergate as well as using this space for adding greenery to the landscape.
Submissions to the award are open from 31 March 2024 until June 30th. The award ceremony will take place in Vienna on 24 October 2024.
In the meantime, the Austrian Chamber is also developing the WOMEN Community on the same webpage, where women architects and chartered engineers can enter their projects and exhibit their achievements in a digital library.
