On May 7th, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) hosted the 8th edition of the Day of Liberal Professions in Brussels under the theme “Professional Support for the EU Blue Deal”. The professionals present sought solutions to address the growing challenges related to water accessibility, quality and quantity. The participants discussed the role of their professions in implementing the EU Blue Deal on a global scale.
One of the key speakers of the event was ECEC President Klaus Thürriedl, who held a presentation on the contributions of liberal professions towards a water-smart society. He spoke on exemplary impacts liberal professionals can make in topics such as education, river management, wastewater treatment, water power, sanitation, distribution and storage as well as further steps needed.
