ECEC objectives and activities

 

ECEC represents professional interests of academic Engineers, who are members of national Engineers Chambers effectively on the level of the association in front of the bodies of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

ECEC encourages and monitors the process of passing common European legislation and takes positions on current relevant topics for the profession.

ECEC strengthens the active participation of national Engineers Chambers in the process of harmonisation national construction regulations according to the common European regulations, especially in the field of:
  • Laws, Regulations, Directives and Standards,
  • Education of Engineers and continuous professional development,
  • Professional Recognition and working mobility of Chartered Engineers.
ECEC defines Professional Qualification Standards and Association Rules as well as to support the system of Freelance Engineering Professions.

ECEC creates Common Principles of Engineering Ethics as the basis of understanding and self-confidence among European Chartered Engineers.

ECEC strives for positive atmosphere in actual and future Co-operation and Co-ordination in common and in particular in activities with other European Engineers Organisations.


ECEC History

 

1998: At the 1st European Engineering Forum in Dresden the necessity for a European Engineers Chamber was presented.
2000: The 2nd Forum in Budapest underlined the resoluteness to establish a European Engineers Chamber.
2002: The 3rd Forum held in Dubrovnik decided to establish the European Council of Engineers Chambers.
2003: At the 4th Forum in Vienna the ECEC was founded and the Presidents of the Chambers in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Austria signed the founding-document. Later Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Spain joined the ECEC.


ECEC structure

 

The ECEC is composed of the following bodies:
  • The General Assembly of members
  • The Executive Board
  • The President (chair of GAM and Board and representative to outside bodies)
  • The Treasurer
  • The Secretary General
  • Informal working groups may be established by the Executive Board for the accomplishment of specific tasks
